How to Have the Best Summer Picnic
As photographers, it’s kind of hard not to love summer. Warm weather, green grass, blue skies, and wildflowers across the state—it’s heaven. For those balmy summer evenings, we love a good summer picnic! Here’s our tips and tricks to making it your cutest picnic yet!
Tip #1: Make it yummy
The main purpose of a picnic is to eat, and we figure it’s not worth the effort unless you’ve got some good food! Another important thing is to pack food that’ll stay good in the heat. Here’s some of our recommendations:
Watermelon
It’s the quintessential summer fruit, and it’s a refreshing treat when the weather’s still a little hot. Cube it, slice it, or make some watermelon juice!
Ice cold soda
A summer picnic isn’t complete without some ice cold soda. Whether you’re a fruity soda fanatic or a Dr. Pepper die-hard, having something to sip on makes the experience sweeter!
Finger foods
While you can get as fancy as you want, you can’t beat the convenience of finger foods like sandwiches, fruit, or crackers. Just make sure all the food works well together!
Tip #2: Make it cute
While this part is optional, we think your picnic’s presentation goes a long way! Just like you’d break out a tablecloth or cute dishes for a dinner party, you can make your picnic one to admire by bringing in cute elements that can be brought outdoors!
Pick a Theme or Color Scheme
For our Petals and Picnics set, we wanted to evoke some of the romance summer nights bring. So, we brought in many floral elements and paired it with a pink and red color scheme!
Good summer themes can include a beach theme, a summer fruit theme (like strawberry, lemon, or watermelon), or even a theme inspired by the French countryside or the Italian coast. Other fun themes we’ve seen are whimsical set ups like fairies, mermaids, or cottage core mushrooms. Bottomline: Get creative and have fun planning fun details around the theme or color scheme you’ve chosen!
Tip #3: Make it a Memory
As photographers, we believe that every moment deserves to be captured. If you’re having a picnic with friends or family, take pictures! A disposable camera can give you that nostalgic feel, providing a certain mood to your photos. If you want high-quality, professional-style photos, consider hiring a photographer! Camera Shy is making this picnic experience easy with two summer-inspired picnic photoshoots this year!
